The Troubador

Troubadors, Trouvères, and Wandering Minstrels were several
names for the musicians that would play and sing for people.
A major advocate of the Troubadors was Eleanor of Aquataine,
the granddaughter of Guilhem VII, Count of Poitiers and IX Duke of Aquitaine.
Eleanor was known as a patron of the arts, which meant that she
promoted music, literature, and art. Many artists thrived under her rule, including
William Shakespeare.
